free people ever after inspired desert wedding photography

Alex & Angela have known each other since middle school but never dated. It wasn’t until Alex finally got the courage to get in contact with Angela after seeing her cheer for the Seattle Seahawks on TV. Fast forward a few years later and the free-spirited bride & groom planned a quick elopement to Vegas when they got invited to a Katy Perry concert by one of their friends. Due to the short timing, their elopement was planned in a matter of days.
Because there are strict restrictions for allowing outside photography in any Vegas chapel, we hit the road to the open desert beforehand to photograph in the rain while dancing, & just being crazy kids in love!
All of the bridesmaids plus bride met through working at Free People and each hand picked their own flowy dress to compliment the red and pink mountains. Instead of using bouquets, they all held custom made boho flags from the Free People display closet.

Hannah & Jaspah chose to elope mainly because they wanted a small intimate wedding and felt that an international wedding wasn’t going to give that to them; it wouldn’t be sincere and would feel like a performance. They chose Las Vegas, NV because it was easy to plan from abroad, easy to get a marriage license for a non US citizen and they wanted to be married in the desert. Their favorite part during the wedding was the intimacy of it. They said their vows in the moment, it was completely deserted due to the weather, and it felt like it should be; natural.

A little snippet from the bride…
Our Favorite Memory of the Day:
We didn’t have our first dance as we were both really shy to dance in front of everyone. As soon as the ceremony ended, our photographer led us to a quiet spot in the garden to take first photos of us as husband and wife. All the rush and excitement we felt seeing our family and friends seemed to quiet down as we spend a few minutes alone together reminding ourselves how lucky we are today. The beauty of nature around us, birds chirping and soft wind blowing. That moment was so special and peaceful.
Our Advise to couples planning today:
Be resourceful and creative. Jason and I have done a lot DIY from the table center piece to the wedding favors. Our weekend consists of daily trips to Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Pinterest is also a great tool for inspiration and ideas. Enjoy your special day as we’ve been told once, the day will go by fast so have fun and don’t stress.
Inspiration behind the day:
The beautiful mountains of Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas were our inspiration for our wedding. We love the Desert Mountains, wild burrows and different native plants. We found the Springs Preserve as a perfect location.  The botanical gardens and our own personal decors in our venue provided that perfect combination of rustic and elegance we loved.
DIY Projects:
1. Instead of purchasing a pre made seating plan from a stationary store, we purchased an old barn window from a local vintage store and used it to write the guest names and table numbers with a white window marker. This gave a lovely personal touch.
2. Jason and I love hiking. While hiking, we collected pinecones at least a hundred of them. We used it for place card names at every table. We dusted each pine cones with gold glitter and MOD. It gave each guest table a woodsier elegant feel.
3. For our wedding favors, we bought small mason jars and filled it with cinnamon vanilla potpourri in each jar and wrap the top cover with a vintage mai print fabric and tied it with burlap. They smelled so nice in the wedding reception.

From the bride:

“ON FEBRUARY 3RD 2015, MY HUSBAND MADE ME THE HAPPIEST GIRL ON THE PLANET WHEN WE TIED THE KNOT AND SAID I DO! I COULDN’T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE MAGICAL DAY. WE BOTH WANTED A STRESS FREE AND SIMPLE OUTDOOR WEDDING. WE HAD AN OUTDOOR WEDDING WITH UNDER 30 GUESTS, SWEET AND SIMPLE. WE MET IN LAS VEGAS WHERE MY HUSBAND GREW UP, SO WE DECIDED TO GET MARRIED AT A SPECIAL PLACE THAT WE VISITED A LOT WHEN WE LIVED THERE…RED ROCK CANYON. WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE THE BEAUTY OF THIS PLACE. THE RED ROCKS ARE LIKE NOTHING YOU’VE SEEN BEFORE, TRULY MAGICAL. IN ROMANIA WHEN SOMEONE GETS MARRIED YOU TELL THEM ‘CASA DE PIATRA’, WHICH LITERALLY MEANS HOUSE OF ROCK. YOU SAY THIS TO WISH THEM A MARRIAGE BUILT ON A SOLID FOUNDATION. I MEAN CAN THIS BE A MORE FITTING PLACE TO GET MARRIED!? WE WERE SURROUNDED BY ENORMOUS RED ROCKS! I SAY WE STARTED OUR MARRIAGE ON A FOUNDATION BUILT OF THE STURDIEST ROCK OUT THERE!
I SURPRISED MY HUSBAND WITH A MINI RUSTIC NAKED WEDDING CAKE AND TOPPER THAT WAS JUST FOR THE TWO OF US TO ENJOY, BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO LEAVE OUR GUESTS OUT. I FIGURED WHAT BETTER WAY THAN WITH MINI MASON JAR CAKES! I USED THE SAME BUTTER CAKE RECIPE BUT I MADE CUPCAKES INSTEAD AND MADE HALF THE FROSTING WITH PINK VANILLA BUTTERCREAM AND HALF WITH CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM, SO THAT GUESTS WOULD HAVE A CHOICE. NOT ONLY COULD THEY ENJOY DELICIOUS CAKE, THEY HAD A LITTLE MASON JAR TO TAKE HOME! WE HAD A VINTAGE AND RUSTIC THEME SO I ADORNED THE MINI MASON JARS WITH TWINE, A HANDMADE MONOGRAMMED TAG, AND A MINI WOODEN SPOON. I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS ONE OF MOST REWARDING DIY PROJECTS I’VE EVER WORKED ON. OUR GUESTS FELL IN LOVE! “
